Crops are harvested, cover crops have been planted, and equipment stored for the winter. Fall rains have greened up the grass, only to see the leaves change and begin to fall. We are as ready for winter as we can be. We never know how much bedding or feed we will need as mother nature doesn’t tell us how hard the winter could be. No matter what we are thankful for the feed we have put up, and those who helped us get the job done.
Our Guernsey’s will remain out to pasture all winter, but will have their sheds bedded daily for their warmth and comfort. Since the grass has stopped growing for the winter, hay, corn silage, and home grown ground feeds will supplement their diet.
Enjoy the cooler weather. It won’t long until we see snow.
